Our History
Barcelona is a city synonymous with design, so it seems a fitting birthplace for Compak coffee grinders, where a design-first approach has seen them develop a cult following among the speciality coffee elites.
The story of Compak begins with Jesús Ascaso in the 1950’s, a pioneer in the burgeoning espresso coffee scene. His early experiences fuelled the creation of several companies, with Compak emerging as the vision for manufacturing top-tier grinders for newly forming coffee aficionados. From its inception, Compak has been driven by a commitment to quality and innovation, with a functional simplicity at its core.

Nestled in the foothills of the Montseny mountain range, the Compak HQ hits the slick industrial design brief it was clearly given. Amongst the pneumatic drivers and neatly arranged work benches, the white gloved workforce carefully piece together the next specific model for their assembly line. This is where everything comes together before being shipped out to various countries worldwide. But if you want to see the brains of the operation, look across to the far corner of the building towards a glass fronted room. Adorned with grinders in differing stages of completion, this is where the latest prototypes start to take shape and get put through their paces, before being fine-tuned, rigorously tested and analysed for particle size distribution.
